In celebration of National Bike Month the City of Norfolk will be holding community bike rides throughout various neighborhoods during the month of May*. The first 500 people to pre-register online will receive a free Norfolk Bike Month t-shirt.** (Unregistered riders will be allowed to sign up at the event one half hour prior to start time.) On-site registration and check-in begins 30 minutes prior to each ride.
* Don't forget! Bike safety first - the City of Norfolk requires every person fourteen (14) years of age or younger to wear a protective helmet when riding! All rides will be escorted by the Norfolk Police Department and include a safety demonstration.

Granby Street Adult Ride
Take a ride to Ocean View! We’ll launch from the Norfolk Fitness & Wellness Center, 7300 Newport Ave, cruise down Granby Street, through the Bayview neighborhood, and pedal through Willoughby before returning back down Granby Street.

Norview Community Ride
Join us at the Norview Community Center, 6380 Sewells Point Road, for the second ride of the month. We’ll travel some of Norfolk’s most well-known streets pedaling through the Winona neighborhood and enjoying views of the Hague River and Lakewood Park.

Downtown Norfolk Fun Ride
Take an afternoon break and join us to celebrate Bike to Work Week with a downtown Norfolk fun ride. The ride will leave from City Hall Plaza, 810 Union Street, travel past Harbor Park, along the Elizabeth River Trail, and through the historic Freemason district, before returning to City Hall.

Family Bike Safety Rodeo
Join us at Tarrallton Park, 2100 Tarrallton Drive, for a family bike safety rodeo. Event is free and open to all ages and will include music, bike tune-ups, helmet give-aways, safety demonstrations, raffles and more. Children can take advantage of the park’s enclosed bmx track, where they can enhance their riding skills in a safe environment.

Poplar Hall Community Ride
Meet us at Poplar Hall Park, 101 N. Military Highway, to start the final ride of the month. We’ll travel over the light rail tracks and into the beautiful River Forest area.
